Happy Friday

Today was like the perfect day off.  After going to Bodyattack and Zumba at the gym, me and Monica, one of the Zumba instructors at the gym ended up going to Starbucks with a couple of other GGX instructors who team teach with her sometimes. I ended up introducing them to my favorite sandwich there- the spinach feta wrap. It's a wheat wrap with egg white, feta cheese, and tomatoes. I was telling them how it's my favorite sandwich to order there, because it tastes really good, and it's only 290 calories- what what! lol. Apparently, they all ended up getting one there! lol Hey it's a fair trade- they teach me how to dance, and I show them where the food is, right? lol  After having Starbucks with the girls, it was time to do laundry.  After doing laundry, Scott and I had dinner, and we are currently getting ready to go out.
I could tell I needed the Starbucks outing.  I was stressed out because I didn't have a huge paycheck since I was away in Pennsylvania for a week. When it comes to money, I always get stressed out. It's because I like to make sure I have enough for my share of the bills, and ofcourse some so I can still go out and do stuff. Scott doesn't seem too worried about it. However, he hardly worries about that since he knows he has a good job. But I learned today, that I am blessed.
I am blessed to have people in my life who want me to be the best I can be. Most importantly, I am blessed to have someone in my life who will make sure I don't fall-too hard anyway. Lol

Back into the old routine....

I can still see the deer eating the corn feed Scotts dad puts out on his property.  My legs are still recovering from  the start and stop of travel. Thursday we caught a flight out of Scranton, PA to Charlotte, North Carolina ,and from there we arrived in San Antonio around 7:25 last night.  The hardest part of the flight was the final flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to San Antonio.  There was turbulance in the air , and the kids sitting behind us where kicking our seat, and  there was a couple of crying babies. But, we arrived in San Antonio in one piece. After that, we unpacked, got a late night dinner at Jims and crashed for the night.  Friday Scott slept in , went to the bank, and did laundry. For me it was  back to my routine. I went to Bodyattack and Zumba at the gym , and then I had to go back to work. Saturday I worked before heading to my friend Lauras birthday party.  There, I got to have a wonderful pasta dinner Laura made, played cards, and played munchkin- a game that is a parody of the table top role playing game Dungeons and Dragons.
Then Sunday after work, I went for my first run since I arrived back in San Antonio.  It made me miss just being able to run in the mountains in Pennsylvania without having to worry about the humidity like I do here. I even told Scott I would do whatever his dad wants me to do on his property if it meant I can just continue training there. lol It was nice not having to worry about the humidity when I was going for my runs there. It was nice being able to able to run in an area where I didn't have to really worry about other people or cars. It was pretty much just me and the road .
Monday, Scott went back to work at the gym. Part of me wishes I could have just took the rest of the weekend off as well, before heading back to work.  But I already took  my actual birthday off, plus another day off to go to San Japan this month, so I figured it was time to get back to work and  start making money again.
As much as we're both slowly getting back to work, I can't help but think, I don't really have a routine, with my inconsistent work schedule. I just work out when I can, and see who I can when I can as well. Scott is really mr. routine. He'll get up, have breakfast, make his peanut butter s andwiches, get ready for work more or less around the same time, go to bed around the same time, and eat the same types of things almost everyday.  Most of the time, we make it work.  I work out at the gym, and run when I can, and work when I am scheduled to work.   But I still feel like I ruin his weekends because I can't always stay out like he can because my job requires me to be avalible on weekends. But, maybe one of these days we'll be on the same page. But for now we'll continue to make time for one another when we can. For now, we do things like have dinner together, and have coffee watch t.v.together when I am off during the week. It's not much, but it's something.
As always at the end of a trip, it's good to be home and to sleep in my own house and bed. But it was sad having to leave after meeting everyone. Hopefully, it won't be the last time  I end up on the east coast.

Pennsylvania day 5 &6

Alas, all good things must come to an end. Laundry is in the dryer, and soon we will be packing to go back to San Antonio tomorrow. Yesterday I swam in Tonis pool until him and his family had to pack up to leave. Then , we went out to the same restaurant we saw the show at for cheesesteaks. It was the first one I had ever in Pennsylvania and I loved it. It wasn't too greasy, it was just a good sandwich.
Today, we hung around the property
Scott got to see some bears last night and today ,so he is happy. After  dinner we went out for ice cream, so I am happy. I am glad to be getting back to working, and my routine in San Antonio. But I will miss being able to run in a place thats not terribly humid. I will miss being able to see the stars like I can here, and the greenery. But most of all I'll just miss Scotts family ,and their kindness and hospitality while I was here.

Pennsylvania day 2 ,3, and 4

It is offical. I run so I can eat sweets. I have had sweets every night since I got here.  At that rate, Scotts family proably thinks its really cool that I run, or I really do need him back at the gym in San Antonio. Lol
First night here, I ended up having strawberry ice cream at Toni's (Scotts brother) place. The day after we go to a show at the Forkville General store. We had a salad, pasta shells with meatballs, and cheesecake for desert before the show. The guy was really talented. He played the saxaphone, guitar, piano, flute, sang and well I might add. He had a friend who is a professional guitar player join up. Then his daughter who is a waitress there came up,sang and played piano as well.  It turns out she has a cd out and is in a band with someone who appeared on Americas Got Talent.
The day after was the day we had our pig roast. There was deviled eggs, macaroni salad, potato salad, beans, ribs, coleslaw, cookies, on top of a pig and a 41 pound really rich rum cake. Then we went up the mountain to really see the stars.
Yesterday I went for a hike with Scotts sister Lisa and her daughter Holly at this  park where we got to see  some really beautiful waterfalls.  Then after that it was time to sing kareoke, and have ice cream at Tonis.
Today I will be going for a swim and then well be going out for an early dinner . So far we have seen deer, racoons, and turkey eat the corn feed  by the house. Scott is still waiting to see the bear that usually comes around. I am not in a hurry to be that close to a bear. But we'll see what happens. But overall it has been a nice vacation so far,  and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Pennsylvania -Day 1

Somehow, I slipped through security, and  arrived at the Wilkes -Barre/Scranton International Airport.
Right now I am a little tired from the flight, but I am also a little sugared up from the coffee I drank , and the strawberry ice cream  with whipped cream that  I ate.
It feels weird going to the east coast instead of the west coast for once. Seeing Scott with his family is making me miss mine. The last time I went up to Washington state was when my grandmother there died. I am hoping to go back soon, under better circumstances.  I know if I where there, I'd be seeing my dad, grandma, and uncle. My girlfriends there would kidnap me, making it hard to go back to San Antonio.  However, everyone here has been nothing short of kind and welcoming so far.  Scotts dad picked us up at the airport, and got us dinner at Perkins. I've got to play games with Tony Harris, and his family, and they let me take over their computer to write this. *hehe*
Tomorrow I know we are going to see some sort of show in town ,and  we are going to have a pig roast.
The one thing I will really have to adjust to here is not having cell phone reception where I am staying. Part of it is , I have to be able to text my boss when I show up to work so she knows I am where I am supposed to be. I have to use my cell phone to clock in and out of work, and text my boss my final numbers from work after I am done for the day. aka I'm really dependent on it most of the week.   Plus, as most know I am used to going on facebook,or playing candy crush on it when I am bored.
But maybe it will be nice to get away from it for a little bit, since I am so dependent on it most of the time.  After the hustle and bustle of city life, it's nice just to look up at the night sky and really see the stars from here.

why i run

Morning all! Well today after work I'll be packing to go to Pennsylvania from the 14th-20th of August.  I  am nervous and excited about my trip.  I hope it goes well and I know it will be fun.   For once, Scott and I will be off  together. We never have the same day off. He trains people during the week to take the weekends off, and I have to be avalible during that time.
Since I work today and will be getting on a plane Friday morning , I went for a ten mile run last night. Two miles in, I was wondering why I was crazy enough to sign up to do a marathon.  It's still hot here, and the humidity doesn't help.
I still miss the days of being a closet athlete. When I started going to the gym, I really didn't tell anyone, I just went. I was afraid of what people would say if I went oh yeah I work out and didn't see any progress.
But, I guess what I have come to discover is running is a part of my life as much as anything else. For me I just like seeing the ducks in the pond by my place ,or the sun in the horizon at the beginning or end of a day as I walk/or run home. I would like to think there is room for that as much as anything else. To me, playing dungeons and dragons or any game for that matter is still just as fun as going for a run.  Anyway, I will be blogging about my trip as often as I can. Love you all, and happy trails! :0)

The fitbit

Hi all! I am just counting down the days before I go to Pennsylvania with Scott from the 14th to the 20th of August.
I am looking forward to  having a new place to explore, meeting Scotts family, and getting away from the humidity .
Anyway as most of you know, I have a fitbit.  The one I have keeps track of my heartrate, stairs climbed, calories burned and sleep pattern, as well as the  number of steps taken in a day. According to the American Heart Association you're supposed to get at least 10,000 steps a day. But after you connect with your friends, you realize the ones who seem to be getting alot of steps are the ones who are really active , or have a job where they are literally on their feet all the time. But it is a good reminder that all the little things you do add up.

The backpack and butterfly notebook

It has been a while since I last blogged. I turned 30 on August 6th. One of the gifts my friend Jenn Oler got me was a butterfly notebook. My boyfriend Scott got me a backpack designed to hold two liters of water for my running. As the two items lay in the kitchen I can't help but think about how both of those things have a major impact on my life. I have been keeping notebooks since I read the book Harriet the Spy in fifth grade. Every time I look at the backpack I can't help but think about how I went from weighing 248 pounds to 122 pounds, and I am currently training to run my first marathon in December.
I feel like I should have everything figured out now that I am no longer in my twenties, but I don't. I live with Scott because my mom doesn't approve of my relationship with Scott, and and she doesn't talk to me anymore. The last time I saw a friend before my birthday was when  I helped my Laura with her costume for San Japan, the annual anime convention here in San Antonio. Scott trains people at the gym more or less around the same time during the week and takes the weekends off so he can listen to his favorite cover bands. I don't have a consistent work schedule, and have to be avalible on weekends. So, Scott and I are always trying to figure out how late we should stay out on the weekends.  Scott says I am not boring, but as much as he says that, I still feel like I am ruining his fun because I can't always stay out like he can.
As my birthday weekend rolls to an end, and my presents lay in the kitchen, I couldn't help but think-  not too long after I got out of school, I moved back to to Texas, and started working on my weight. Now that the weight is off, maybe it's time to make sure I am making time for all the things I love.
So, as a way to bring balance back to the force, I am going to start blogging twice a week about running/working out, or whatever is on my mind. After all the backpack and notebook have both had an impact on my life.
