AKON day 1

After getting some much needed sleep, Korafey and I left the hotel around 10/11 this morning. After saying goodbye to my friend because she had to go do her volunteer work, I headed out to get my badge. What suprised me was actually how fast it took. I parted ways with my friend a little before 11 and by 12:30 I was in Artist Alley looking around. From what I heard it took forever and a day so last yearso I was fortunate on that part. I attended the lecture on writing and balancing having a life. For me it was a reminder you can do whatever you want, and still have a life. I know when I'm really into something wether it's writing, working out, ect. I was be obsessive about it. I got my pictuure taken in the costume I wore that day. I decided on a red corset , long black skirt, and my black lace arm wamers with my velvet black cape because even though it wasn't a particular anime charector, I was still dressing up a little. :0) At 5 , Korafay and I met up for a quick lunch/dinner and then I bought of couple of pictures before heading back to my hotel room. After Korafay was done with her volunteer shift, we walked to Dennys and talked while she got food. At Dennys, Korafey mentioned that she felt bad I had to be myself at times because of her volunteer shifts since another friend of hers couldn't make it to the convention this year due to unforseen circumstances. However, I think wether you are by yourself, or with an entire group of friends, conventions like these are what you make of it. You can still take pictures of people wearing cool costumes, do things like shout out "Pikachu thundershock" when you see someone in a Pikachu costume, and attend whatever activies interest you because at anime conventions, if you have the time and money to make it, there's something for everyone.

I'm in Dallas for my first anime convention! :0)

A lunch at Subway followed by a 4-5 hour car ride I am in Dallas with my friend Korafay to attend AKON, the annual anime convention there. I decided to go because (A. since I usually work at events, I want to be able to enjoy an event without having to worry about how many people are stopping at the booth. (B. I still have never been to AKON. I've got to attend San Japan, the anime convention in San Antonio, but not AKON, so why not? Getting into town was fairly smooth sailing. The hotel I ma staying at is really nice. It was a fitness center and a pool on the roof, a restaurant, and we each have a queen size bed to ourselves. The view from the room isn't that great because it's of the back area of the hotel next to the dumpster. ( Spectuaclar I know! But I don't plan to be in the room much. lol) But the traffic in Dallas is terrible. There's construction everywhere downtown. Korafay and I went to Denton to meet a friend for dinner, we got turned around and took us an hour longer to get to the restuarant because a road sign was unclear, and on the way back to the hotel, there was alot of stop and go traffic. I think the convention is coming at a good time because sometimes I don't feel like I am the same person anymore since I am more active then I used to be. I like working out now and it is as mich a part of my life as everything else is now that I've gotten into some short of shape. But I still like games and writing like I did before, but I guess at this point I'm still trying to bring balance to the force. But perhaps that will come in time. Right now even though my legs , and well the rest of my body really are tired from all the driving around, I am excited for the convention to begin in the tomorrow.
