Leap Day

Happy Monday everyone.  It turned out to be a really busy weekend.  *he he* Friday I went with Scott to see FlipSide at BoozeHounds for a little bit. I only stayed for two sets because I had to work at 9:45 in the morning.  ( I know, it's times like those I feel like Scott needs a girlfriend who doesn't work weekends. Ack! I still feel like I am no fun when I have to do that. lol)  Anyway, Saturday I work the Home and Garden show on Saturday.  After that,I saw my friends Jenn ,Selma , and Leia for a little bit. They got pizza, and then we ended up getting coffee for a little bit afterwards before having to part ways. I was glad I at least got to say hey.   When Selma graduated was the day I ran the Rock n Roll marathon, and her birthday weekend turned out to be the weekend I ran with my mom. (I know, I clearly need more balance to the force.)  *hehe* Anyway Sunday it was back to Six Flags. It was the first time I worked there since the park opened this weekend. The weather cooperated, thank god. After that, I just relaxed , and slept.
Now it's back to the gym, and mall shifts before the weekend hits. I have decided to run the Tacoma marathon on May 1st. My mom is running it, and our family friend Teddy will be there, so I will let her see mom and I run together. Plus its still far enough that I can get some training in. Anyway I hope everyone is having a good start to their week.
Love you all.

So what happens next?

Happy Tuesday!
Well, most of the sand from the beach has washed away, and my legs are almost feeling like normal again. *hehe* So far it's been back to work. Sunday I worked a shift at SouthPark mall, and Monday I worked an evening shift at the rodeo. (Lets rodeo San Antonio- woot! LOL)
But I still do not really know where I want to go next.  My mom said I could join her if I wanted to do a marathon in Arkansas in a month, and another one in Oklahoma in two months.  Plus, I know she is running the Tacoma marathon on May 1st and another marathon the day afterward. (I know. I am tired just thinking about it too. lol)  But,  I am also trying to think about time and training because I can't crank out marathons like my mom can.  Not only that, but  I work on weekends, so that would mean having to ask for time off work to do this. Plus, I also want to make sure what I do are my goals too, not my moms goals for me. I guess we will see where the trails take me.
Love you all

Surfside Beach Marathon

Well, my mom and I have actually completed our first marathon together.  Friday we met up that morning at the Starbucks by moms house, and then we took off. We arrived in Surfside around 1:30 that afternoon. We had lunch at the cafe by the hotel we we still had to wait until three for our room to be ready.  After we checked in, we relaxed in our room until it was time to go get our bib and everything else at 5. It turned out my mom had two red bikinis packed with her so we each put on one and went to the beach until dinner.  Not too long after we posted the pictures on facebook, my Aunt Evie from the Phillipines  showed a picture of her, my mom and myself in a red bikini, and said her sister Pinky now needs to post a picture of herself in a red bikini. So, apparently my mom and I have started an international red bikini challenge. *hehe*
We got up at 4 in the morning to run because we wanted to start at 5:30 a.m. with the early runners because we had to check out of our hotel by noon.  We had trouble finding the turnaround point around mile two, so we actually ran about  a quarter of a mile more because of that. ( I just said it was my moms way of trying to get me into ultra marathons , and hundred milers now .lol )  But distance, and everything else aside , it really was a nice peaceful run on the beach.  I had to use the portapotty twice, and I am wondering if it is because of the chili I had at the resturant the day before. It was  a little spicy. Oh well, I learned - nothing too spicy day before the race for Donna. But despite that, my mom and I finished  by 11:15/11:20ish. We really didn't have a time goal. I was just the one going ok I already got 10,000 steps on my fitbit when my tracker said I got to the point, and we did a 10k we're good right at mile 6. lol  Running with my mom was a definite reminder I still have a long way to go when it comes to running marathons. But I am on the right track, which is good to know.  Mom  also reminds me how fun it is to travel and to do stuff like this, when you have the time, and money ofcourse. Scott always makes sure I am active here on a daily basis, since I no longer live with my mom.  He always lets me at least  run when I can't make it to the gym because of work, or I need to get a run in for training . It's a definite reminder of what I can possibly become if  I continue to work hard, and  no matter what happens now, I am blessed to have people who want me to be the best I can be.

Pre race blog

Good morning everyone!
Well later on this morning, I will be meeting up with my mom, and heading out to run the Surfside Beach Marathon tomorrow morning. Am I crazy for doing another race, not too long after doing my first full?  I proably am.  I found out about it because my mom asked me about doing a race, and next thing I knew I was registered. But, it's a chance to see my mom , and I get to run on the beach, so no matter what happens, I'll have that. I've never ran in sand before, at least for something like a race, so my goal is just to enjoy everything, and finish without taking too much sand home. I still really can't believe I am doing this. I used to be the one rolling my eyes, and going good for you when my mom talked about running.
I have most of my packing done. I just need to get dressed,  pack my toothbrush, and race outfit, and I will be ready. As always I am nervous and excited.  It will be the first time seeing my mom since our falling out.  Looking back on it, I know I wasn't prefect, she wasn't perfect- it was more just action and reaction.  We'll see if 26.2 miles will be enough to help bring two people back together, or at least a little closer.

My Happy Place...

Well folks,
Tigers cone is off! Yeah! *does happy dance* It is finally off. Scott is glad, I'm glad, and ofcourse Tiger is glad too. Although now we have to find another way to get HBO now. HAHA
I guess you can say Scott and I really are a fitness couple. Tonight , before he went to Billy D's, it turned out we both had the same idea. I got him a workout shirt that says "Pump It Up" because he is known for saying that at the gym to his clients, when he works out, and at the club . I got one that says "the gym is my happy place."  The more I look at it, the more it really has become my happy place.  It's  just become a place I can wether I have a good or bad day, and just try to be the best I can be. If I had a good day at work, I can be like yea, I got alot of leads, or I am getting to work a cool event later. If I had a bad day or ate alot, I like being able to just go and work everything off.  I ran today because I got to go home early since there were three greeters at our rodeo booth, and there wasn't a need for that. So I figured well, since I get to home early, might as well at least get a run in , and do something good for myself. Plus, I feel more productive when I know I've done something at least.  I guess there are worse things to be than known for going to the gym. *hehe* Plus , a girl can never have too many workout shirts right?  *hehe*  Really, a girl can never have too many clothes, shoes, books, or places to travel.  Now I just have "The Devil Wears Prada" on, and I just talked to one of my aunts from the Phillipines. It was nice to play catch up . Tomorrow after I get off work, I will be going out to dinner with Scott, and next week, I run with my mom.  I am hoping that is a sign that this year, there will be balance, and time for all the people I love. Anyway, single or taken, I  hope everyone has a great Valentines Day.
Love you all.

Some thinking to do...

Hello everyone! Well it has been another random day. I worked at South park mall, ate, ran seven miles , and now I have an episode of Charmed going on Netflix. My mom was telling me earlier that after we run on the 20th of this month, she is running a marathon on the 6th of next month in Arkansas and on the 24th of April in Oklahoma City, and I can join her if I want. Apparently if I complete a marathon in three states, I'll be a marathon maniac. I am still debating if that is where I want to go, or not. I know Scott wouldn't mind as long as I still worked, and have money for our bills.  But my job requires me to be avalible on weekends , for the most part. Plus , I am wondering if my body would he able to handle all that running, and training. My mom can do it, but she is a seasoned runner.  I will see. I just want to make sure it is also my goal ,and what I want to accomplish. I think it would be cool to at least try to complete an ironman half , and maybe qualify for Boston within the next few years. Anyway, aside from that, I am starting to look at tickets so I can go to Washington and visit my family there. Valentines Day , aside from work I am not really sure what  Scott and I are going to do. We are both on the broke side until we get paid, so we will see. Anyway, have a good day everyone. Love you all.

Superbowl Sunday blog

Well folks,
Yesterday a crazy and random day. It started off with work. I had to work the chocofrolic run at Morgans Wonderland. There, I got to see people run for chocolate, while having chocolate myself. *hehe* For running a 5k, or 10k, on top of their finishers medal, runners got a bar, water, and there where pretzels , nilla wafers, banannas, and oreo cookies that they could dip in chocolate and eat. *hehe* There where also shirts , and cookies for sale, and you could take your picture on a umpa lumpa cardboard cutout. After the run, I met up with my friend Jenn for lunch. We ended up talking in La Madeline for like four hours. *hehe* It was nice just to sit, eat and drink coffee. Between work and training, I don't feel like I get to do that too often. I got home just in time to see the Superbowl.  Scott is happy the Broncos won, and in time we'll find out if Payton Manning really is retiring. I liked the Doritos commercial where I saw a guy constantly trying to keep dogs out of the grocery store, and then at the end you see a couple of dogs disguised in people clothes buying food. *hehe* I said that is how Tiger gets our groceries for us. Scott just gives her people clothes to wear , and she goes to the store for us.
*hehe* I thought ColdPlay sang well at the halftime show, but it was really Bruno Mars, and Beyonce that gave the show the edge it needed.
Now, most of the chicken wings have been eaten, leftovers have been distributed, and the media is commenting on the outcome of the game.
This morning we had to take Tiger to the vets office. Tiger is doing well, but the vet wants her to wear "the cone" for 5 more days. I know something every dog wants to hear , right?
I still sometimes wonder what it's like to be a cat going to the vets office. I mean having people poke the fingers in your kennel  to pet you, and having every dog sniffing you, and trying to be your friend. I ended up doing a 10 mile run while Scott watched Superbowl hilights, after I took about an hour nap. (Naps are good.)  It made me feel like I burned off some of the stuff from the Superbowl party yesterday , and from the chocolate run. *hehe*
I still don't know if I am ready for my upcoming race or not because I didn't get a super long run in today because of the vet visit. I don't know, but if not I can always switch to the half, I guess. *hehe*
Tomorrow, it's back to work for both of us. I work a double in Ingram mall, and Scott goes to the gym at 8 a.m.  So, dun dun duh! Have a good night everyone.
Love you all.

Slowly making a comeback

Tiger is slowly getting back to her old self . She is eating, and starting to move around more like she did before thank god.  After Monday, "the cone" will be off. I know she's looking forward to that. I wouldn't like wearing a cone around my head either. Aside from that, yesterday was my only day off, aside from the staff meeting.  During the meeting, our marketing director talked about families being glad to saying yes to one of our agents.  It made me think, the only thing I am glad I said yes to was a gym membership. Scott has said if I didn't start working on my weight when I did,  at the rate I was going, I would have only lived to be fifty or sixty, now who knows, unless something else happens in the future. But, I hope I am still at the very least able to still go to the classes at the gym when I am in my sixties, and seventies. I am beginning to wonder how much enviornment  plays a factor . Becky was just telling me that I ate like how my grandparents and dad did when I lived with them, and then the weight came off when I lived with my mom, a seasoned runner. I have to admit the support system does help. Mom may not have needed to lose weight, but she at least knew what I had to do to get started, she understoood why I would go to the gym before work, or after work, ect. Plus since it was just my mom and I, it was easier to figure out food ,and had more of a say in what I was eating. Whereas when I lived with my grandparents and dad,  we prepared our own breakfast and lunch, but when it came to dinner, it was either eat what they prepared, or get your own. But it's also a choice , because even with that, I could have ate better on my own when I lived in Washington, and still made time to work out.
I feel somewhat rested now. Yesterday I could tell I was tired from working the Spurs game late at night, and then having to go to the staff meeting early in the morning.   I am just waiting for Scott to get ready, and we'll be heading to the gym to get our workout then. Then I work at Ingram, and we will be going to BoozeHounds tonight.  I hope everyone has a great Friday!

Quick update..

Happy Tuesday everyone! Well Tiger is back from her surgery, safe , and sound.  She is having to wear "the cone" so she won't lick her stitches, but her appetite  is slowly starting to come back, and at least now she had the surgery she needs , so all she has to do is recover. Monday, Scott and I will be going to the vets to take it off her, and hopefully she'll be back to her old self soon.
Aside from that, it is business as usual. Scott has an 8 a.m. client this morning, and I worked a double yesterday, and today I have a 6 hour shift, but at least Scott and I get off at the same time tonight. I am trying to get some training in for my race later this month ,and  Scott has his Broncos stuff out ,and we will be having some people over on SuperBowl Sunday to watch the game.
It will be the first year Scott and I will be rooting for the same team. (Yes , I told him I'd root.for the Broncos this Sunday.)  At least since we've known each other. Last year when the SeaHawks and Patriots played in the Superbowl I rooted for the SeaHawks since my family is from Washington state, and same when the Seahawks played against the Broncos in the Superbowl the year before. Haha . So bring on the veggie tray, chicken wings ,potato chips, ect. *he he*
Anyway have a good everyone!
